## Starting point

Piwwop runs an 80,000-line R package that computes football odds (pricing and resulting), in production 24/7. The company was looking for an R developer and could not find one.

## The mission

I took responsibility for the package within a three-person team: Jira ticket assignment, code review, merges to production, 24/7 availability. The first patches reached production a few weeks after I joined.

- New data-processing tests following the client's Test-Driven Development practice.
- CI/CD with Git.
- Zero production incident caused by code during the mission; the only outages came from the VPS.

## The outcome

Live match processing was added, with odds updated within seconds. The feature was used on World Cup fixtures: a new revenue line for the client.

The package is still in production and handles 30,000 API calls a day.
